The Story
“A black sunray dial cut with concentric rings, with bronze Arabic numerals running anticlockwise from 12 to 11 to 10, because the hands do too.
Dakshina is a watch that runs backwards: its Miyota 2037 movement turns the hands anticlockwise, and the dial is printed to match, with the numerals counting down from 12 to 11 to 10. Avarth houses it in a 40mm bronze case, with a bronze bezel, crown, buckle and hands, which will darken and patinate with wear, over a steel caseback. The dial is black with a sunray finish and concentric rings, under sapphire, on a black leather strap. Avarth says every watch it makes is built around an unusual complication or display, and this is its most playful. It launched in October 2026.

About the maker
Avarth Watches
Founded 2025 · India · Sharan & Sanjana
Avarth is a husband-and-wife micro-brand built on a specific premise: that Indian watch buyers grew up watching their parents and grandparents collect watches with intention, and deserve a brand that continues that tradition at accessible prices. Their debut trio — Ashva, Waqt, and Chandini — punches dramatically above its price point with jump hour complications, retrograde minutes, guilloché dials, and Devanagari numerals. Both sold-out models moved on word of mouth alone.
