The Story
“Ashva — the Sanskrit word for horse. Speed, freedom, endurance. The jump hour window snaps forward like a gallop: stillness, then sudden motion. A retrograde minute hand sweeps like a speedometer needle across a dial that belongs on a vintage grand tourer's dashboard.
The Ashva is a jump hour with a retrograde minute hand — complications you'd expect on a Swiss watch at 10× the price, delivered here for under ₹11,000. The sandblasted matte dial and diamond-cut needles reference 1960s automotive instrumentation, while the FKM rubber strap in orange or black gives it a motorsport edge. Avarth's debut sold out on word of mouth. The complication alone makes it one of the most interesting sub-₹15K watches in India.

About the maker
Avarth Watches
Founded 2025 · India · Sharan & Sanjana
Avarth is a husband-and-wife micro-brand built on a specific premise: that Indian watch buyers grew up watching their parents and grandparents collect watches with intention, and deserve a brand that continues that tradition at accessible prices. Their debut trio — Ashva, Waqt, and Chandini — punches dramatically above its price point with jump hour complications, retrograde minutes, guilloché dials, and Devanagari numerals. Both sold-out models moved on word of mouth alone.
