“An off-white dial with a woven linen texture, numerals filled with Super-LumiNova tinted like old radium, and a small seconds at six: the face of a pocket watch from the year India became independent.
The Forty Seven is Bangalore Watch Company's first pocket watch and its most direct piece of national storytelling: a tribute to the generation that inherited a poor, newly independent country in 1947 and chose to build rather than look back. It has a 46mm rose-gold PVD steel case under a domed K1 hardened-mineral crystal, a linen-patterned off-white dial with vintage-toned lume, and an oil-pulled leather lanyard. The movement is Swiss quartz, a sensible choice for a watch that may sit in a drawer between occasions. BWC will engrave a personal message on the caseback, which makes it an obvious heirloom gift. At ₹1.2 lakh you are paying for the case, the finishing and the story rather than the movement.
