The MACH 1 is BWC's pilot watch and its tribute to the MiG-21 FL 'Type 77', the first supersonic fighter built in India by HAL, which flew in the 1971 war and served the Indian Air Force for five decades. The Civilian is the plainest version: a 40mm brushed steel case, a German Type A Flieger-style black dial with cockpit numerals in 3D Super-LumiNova, the IAF fin flash at 9, a crown modelled on a MiG afterburner and MiGs in formation engraved on the caseback. Inside is a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic, with sapphire and 100m water resistance. The same watch comes in black PVD as the Aviator and with Officer's Blue, Silk Scarf and Avalanche dials. It is the BWC to start with if you want the brand's aviation story without limited-edition pricing.
