The Elegance is Skylona's bread and butter: a 40mm minimalist quartz three-hander on a steel mesh bracelet for ₹1,499. It is a fashion watch, not a tool — Skylona itself says it carries no water-resistance rating, and the 'sapphire-coated' crystal is not sapphire. What it offers is a clean all-black look, cash on delivery and a seven-day return, from a brand that assembles in Surat rather than relabelling an import. If you want a first watch for under ₹1,500 and understand what you are buying, it is a reasonable one.

The Surat brand — run from Mota Varachha, a short ride from the city's diamond-cutting workshops — says every watch is designed, quality-checked and assembled in Surat, and sells direct with free shipping, cash on delivery and a seven-day return window. Most of the catalogue sits between ₹999 and ₹1,999: Apex and Elegance three-handers, Classic and Carnival multifunction chronographs. The step up is the Meridian, an ultra-slim sapphire dress watch at ₹4,999–₹5,499, and the Genesis One sports chronograph at ₹3,499. Treat the struck-through 'MRP' figures with scepticism; judge the watches on what you actually pay.
