The Story
“A silver-white sunburst framed in black steel, with rose-gold hands and nothing else — Surat's idea of a dress watch, cut as thin as the city's diamond polishers cut their tables.
The Meridian is where Skylona stops being a ₹999 brand. It is an ultra-slim quartz dress watch — Skylona quotes about 5mm thick — with a 316L steel case, a genuine sapphire crystal and rose-gold hands on a silver sunburst dial, offered on a steel bracelet and in more than half a dozen dial colours. Water resistance is only 30m, so keep it out of the shower. Ignore the ₹12,999 'MRP' on the listing; at the ₹4,999–₹5,499 you actually pay, a sapphire-crystal slim watch assembled in Surat is a fair proposition.

About the maker
Skylona
Founded 2023 · Surat · Undisclosed
Skylona is the budget end of Indian watchmaking, and it doesn't pretend otherwise. The Surat brand — run from Mota Varachha, a short ride from the city's diamond-cutting workshops — says every watch is designed, quality-checked and assembled in Surat, and sells direct with free shipping, cash on delivery and a seven-day return window. Most of the catalogue sits between ₹999 and ₹1,999: Apex and Elegance three-handers, Classic and Carnival multifunction chronographs. The step up is the Meridian, an ultra-slim sapphire dress watch at ₹4,999–₹5,499, and the Genesis One sports chronograph at ₹3,499. Treat the struck-through 'MRP' figures with scepticism; judge the watches on what you actually pay.
