The Story
“A slab of abalone shell that shifts from green to blue to violet as the rectangular case turns on its pivot, with a blank steel back on the other side waiting to be engraved.
The Aksha is Jaipur Watch Company's successor to its Rajasthan Polo Flip Watch, and its name is the Sanskrit word for axis. The 45 x 30mm rectangular case, only 7.6mm thick, rotates on a vertical pivot within its frame, so you can turn the dial inward to protect it, the idea behind the reversible watches made for polo players in 1930s India. Inside is a slim Miyota 9T25 two-hand quartz movement. The reverse is plain steel, and JWC will laser-engrave it with a message or an artwork at no extra cost. The dial here is natural abalone shell; the same watch comes in mother-of-pearl mosaic, green marble, black marble and wood. At ₹45,000 it is JWC's most wearable dress watch, and a better-made, cheaper alternative to a Reverso homage.
