The Story
“A certified British India One Rupee coin from 1947 — struck with a walking tiger, the last coin minted under the Raj — set as the beating centre of the dial. The tiger prowls the same posture that would later echo in the Make in India mark.
The Baagh Collection is Jaipur Watch Company's answer to what a coin watch can be when the coin itself carries the weight of a transition. Each Roman Baagh sets a genuine 1947 British India One Rupee — minted only across 1946 and 1947, the final coinage of colonial rule — beneath front-and-back sapphire, running on a Miyota 8215 automatic. The walking tiger on the coin sits a whisker away from the silhouette India would later adopt as its manufacturing emblem, making this the rare watch that holds both the end of one era and the promise of another. At 43mm with Roman numerals, it wears like a statement and reads like a history lesson.
