The Story
“A certified 1947 British India One Rupee coin, the last struck under British rule, with its walking tiger picked out in gold and the hours in Devanagari numerals.
The Baagh collection is built around the 1947 British India One Rupee coin, minted only in 1946 and 1947 and the last coin issued under British rule, whose walking tiger looks remarkably like today's Make in India lion. This version sets the coin in a 43mm steel case with the tiger gilded and Devanagari hour numerals around it. It has a Miyota 8215 automatic, sapphire front and back with an inner anti-reflective coating, and 5 ATM water resistance. It is also made in a gold-plated case, and with Roman numerals as the Roman Baagh. The Devanagari script is what makes this the most Indian of the four.
