The Story
“A tiger's eye stone dial framed by filigree-style scrollwork, with a black guilloché minute disc in the centre, a jumping hour window at twelve and a rotating seconds disc at six.
The Rare Earth is Jaipur Watch Company's most complicated-looking dial: an ornate 41 x 30mm tonneau case framing a slab of semi-precious stone, with time shown by a jumping hour at 12, a curved minute hand on a black guilloché centre and a rotating disc for the seconds at 6. The stone comes in malachite, tiger's eye, lapis lazuli and aventurine, and because each piece of stone is cut from a different section no two dials match. It runs on an automatic movement visible through a peephole caseback, under sapphire, rated to 5 ATM, on an alligator-embossed strap matched to the stone. It follows JWC's earlier stone-dial Flip watches, now sold out. At ₹55,000 it is an unusual piece of wearable geology.
