Deccan Watches (DeW & Co.): The Collector Community Now Making Its Own Watches

Time Collectors India built a 60-piece Mysuru clock-tower watch that sold out before anyone saw it. Its follow-up, the Golkonda Tiger Ferrum, has a real tiger iron stone dial for ₹9,999.

Deccan Watches, signed DeW & Co., is the watch brand of the Bengaluru collector community Time Collectors India. Its first watch, the Dodda Gadiyara, was a 60-piece tribute to Mysuru's clock tower that sold out to members before it was unveiled. Its second, the Golkonda Tiger Ferrum, is a 35.5mm cushion-case watch with a natural tiger iron stone dial and a Miyota GL24 quartz, at ₹9,999 for a limited time (MRP ₹11,799). The first drop sold out in days, and there's now a waitlist.

Most Indian micro-brands start with a founder and look for a community. Deccan Watches did it the other way round. It is the house brand of Time Collectors India (TCI), a Bengaluru collector community that runs a Facebook group, holds meetups and, as of 2026, designs watches for its own members. Its dials are signed DeW & Co. Hindustan, and the brief on its website is the Deccan's overlooked stories, materials and ideas rather than the familiar ones.

In three months it has released two watches, and both sold out almost immediately.

The first watch: Dodda Gadiyara

Mysuru's Dodda Gadiyara, the "big clock" beside the Town Hall, was built in 1927 for the silver jubilee of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, and its face uses Kannada numerals. DeW & Co.'s first watch marked the tower's 100th year by putting that face on the wrist.

It is a small, vintage-proportioned two-hand quartz, about 32mm wide and 41mm lug to lug on a 22mm strap. It has a linen-textured dial with the clock tower's Kannada numerals, blued hands, and a square gold-toned case with engraved foliate corners. Only 60 pieces were made, offered exclusively to TCI members. On 11 August 2026 TCI announced it had sold out "even before we could publicly unveil the watch" and asked followers whether they wanted another edition.

The Dodda Gadiyara was never sold publicly. It is still the watch that proved the model: a community that knew exactly what it wanted, a regional story nobody else was telling, and a run small enough to sell out on word of mouth alone.

The second watch: Golkonda Tiger Ferrum

For centuries the name Golkonda meant diamonds. The Koh-i-Noor and the Hope Diamond are both traced to the mines around the Deccan fortress, and "Golkonda" still describes the purest type of diamond. DeW & Co.'s Golkonda collection, subtitled "The Earth's Signature," takes that history and works with something more attainable: semi-precious stone, cut into dials.

The first model is the Golkonda Tiger Ferrum. Its dial is tiger iron, a banded rock of tiger's eye, red jasper and hematite formed over millions of years, so every dial shows a different slice with its own stripes and flaws. The case is a 35.5mm cushion shape in 304L steel, 11.3mm thick and 39mm lug to lug, on an 18mm brown leather strap. Inside is a slim Miyota GL24 two-hand quartz, which keeps the case thin and leaves the stone uncluttered. The crystal is mineral, the water resistance 30m, and the caseback is engraved with a fortress gateway.

Stone dials have usually been a luxury feature in Indian watchmaking. The closest local comparison, Jaipur Watch Company's Flip Watch in tiger's eye, costs more than four times as much. At about ₹10,000, the Tiger Ferrum makes a natural stone dial an impulse-buy decision rather than a considered purchase. The compromises are clear: a mineral crystal rather than sapphire, 30m of water resistance, and a quartz movement. At least one collector has already asked for a sapphire upgrade in the launch post's comments. For a small dress watch that will rarely get near water, they are reasonable trade-offs.

Who it's for

The Tiger Ferrum is for anyone who has been told 40mm is "small" and doesn't believe it. It is a vintage-sized dress watch whose appeal is the dial and nothing else, and it will suit smaller wrists that most Indian micro-brands ignore. It is also a way into one of the more interesting stories in Indian watches right now: enthusiasts who got tired of waiting for brands to build what they wanted and built it themselves. If you want a Deccan watch, join the waitlist on deccanwatches.com or follow TCI. Based on the first two releases, the next one won't last long.
