“8 Down — the train robbed at Kakori on 9 August 1925, by Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, and 10 others. The watch marks 100 years of that act of resistance.
On 9 August 1925, a group of young Indian revolutionaries stopped Train No. 8 Down at Kakori, Uttar Pradesh, and looted the British treasury it was carrying. Ram Prasad Bismil wrote poetry on the way to the gallows. Ashfaqullah Khan was hanged at 27. Ajwain produced exactly 1925 pieces of the Kakori Centenary — one for each year of the robbery. A watch that refuses to forget.
