The Story
“A slab of genuine lapis lazuli, the deep ultramarine that Persian traders carried into Rajputana and that Mughal miniaturists ground into paint — flecked with pyrite so that each dial holds a different scatter of gold.
The Flip Watch is Jaipur Watch Company's answer to the most famous watch India ever inspired. Its 40 × 30mm steel capsule pivots inside an outer carrier so the stone dial can be turned face-down against the wrist — the same idea that produced the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso after a polo match in India in 1930, executed by a brand that actually sits in Jaipur, the city that dominated world polo through the 1930s. This one carries a lapis lazuli dial, pyrite flecks and all, over a Miyota 2025 quartz, with a crossed-mallet polo crest engraved on the reverse face. Seventy-five pieces; the original run has sold out, though JWC still takes customisation orders.
